What is gravure printing?

Gravure printing is a high-quality, direct printing method where the entire surface of the printing plate is initially covered with ink. A specialized scraping mechanism, known as a doctor blade, removes excess ink from the non-image areas, leaving ink only in the recessed cells of the graphics and text.
